Centre for Liberty participated in a regulatory hearing convened by the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission as part of its public proceedings relating to the power sector. During the hearing, CFL made oral submissions and placed material on record concerning procurement practices followed by state electricity utilities.

CFL highlighted discrepancies between the specifications under which distribution transformers were tendered and the grade of equipment allegedly supplied, pointing to potential excess payments and procurement irregularities. The submissions referred to inspection findings and procurement records indicating that lower-grade transformers may have been supplied while payments were made at higher benchmark rates.

The submissions were made in the course of the Commission’s public hearing process and were taken on record for further examination in accordance with applicable regulatory procedures.
